Meditation Pod Project

As an interdisciplinary artist, I had the privilege of collaborating on the Meditation Pods project, a series of three interactive, multi-sensory art installations at East Sussex Libraries. These pods offer a moment of mindfulness, featuring soundscapes and sensory experiences created by young people aged 16-24, who participated in Art and Wellbeing workshops to support their mental health. In partnership with Eastbourne Alive and the Towner Gallery, the project explores the challenges young people face today, with themes drawn from the Youth Parliament’s Make Your Mark poll. I helped build the brain pod alongside Sophie Wright and her creative team, empowering young people to express their creativity and create lasting change in Eastbourne.

A special part of this journey was leading colour therapy workshops, where I shared my work on neurodiverse experiences through illustration and poetry, offering a transformative approach to care and storytelling.

BUILDING THE BRAIN POD

As part of Sophie Wright's Meditation Pod Project, I contributed to the creation of the "Brain Pod," a meditation installation focused on education and learning. Inspired by one of the participants' sketches, Sophie developed the technical drawings, and I sketched the appearance of a brain based on scientific illustrations to guide the construction of a sculptural representation. This collaboration brought the concept to life, culminating in the installation of the Brain Pod in Hastings during Autumn 2023/Winter 2024. Accompanied by audio meditations, the installation aimed to inspire wellness and mindfulness in public spaces. The images here capture the building process and the final form of the Brain Pod
